Eating

Restaurants and Gasthauses

Graz, like most of Austria's cities, towns and villages, offers a good selection of restaurants with local and international cuisine. Very traditional Austrian food like Schweinebraten, can be found in typical Austrian eating establishments (perhaps best described as the restaurant for the local people, usually with good atmosphere, friendliness, nicely decorated, and home-cooked food), which are called "Gasthaus".
Restaurants serving traditional Austrian Cuisine include the Stainzerbauer and Gösserbräu,

Drinking
  Austrian restaurants and Gasthauses also offer opportunities to just drop in for a beer, wine or Schnaps, as well as, of course, something non-alcoholic. The centre of Graz offers many wine bars and clubs, which are open until late at night during the warm summers.

Shopping
  Graz offers many  opportunities to buy the latest fashion in its many attractive shopping streets in the centre of the city.

Graz is famous for its pumpkin-seed oil, which is particularly used for salads. It is now a protected brand “Styrian pumpkin seed oil“.
Austria's famous gingerbread (Lebkuchen) biscuits, cakes and chocolates (Mozart Kugel) are also widely available.

There are also regular Farmer's Markets with delicious Austrian sausages, ham, cheeses, fruits, honey, cakes and other local food directly from the farm.

Styria is also famous for its wines. Welschriesling, Weissburgunder, Morillon, Traminer and Schilcher are now an internationally recognized wines. Styia's famous
protected brand is the “Schilcher“.
