Electricity:
Austria uses 220 volts AC, at 50 cycles/seconds. The plugs in use
are two-pin round.
Opening Hours:
Austria still has one of the most restricted opening hours
legislations in Europe. Shops are usually open from 8 or 9am to 6:30
pm, Monday to Friday, and until 12 noon or 5pm on Saturday. Some
shops may close for a one- or two-hour lunch break (there is no
uniform system). Shops are closed on Sundays. At railway stations
and airports some shops are open until as late as 11pm.
Banking Hours:
Banks are open from 8am to 12:30 pm and again from 1:30 pm to 3pm on
Monday to Friday. Banks are closed on Saturday, Sunday, and public
holidays.
