Location
Switzerland is located in Central Europe. Countries bordering
Switzerland are France to the West, Germany to the North, Austria
and Liechtenstein to the East, and Italy to the South.
In total Switzerland covers an area of approximately 41,000 square
kilometres.
Climate
The climate in Switzerland varies considerably from one region to
another. In the Northern plateau surrounded by mountains the climate
is mild and refreshing. South of the Alps it is warmer under the
influence of the Mediterranean. Winters can be cool and rainy with
heavy snow in the mountains. Summers are warm to hot in the Southern
part of Switzerland with occasional showers.
